Boat and RV Storage Near Lake Travis: Open vs. Covered Spaces at Alliance Storage in Lago Vista

Lago Vista sits on the north shore of Lake Travis, and for most people here a boat or an RV is part of the weekend. The hard part is where it lives the other five days. Driveways fill up, many neighborhoods restrict trailer parking, and anything left in the open takes a beating from the Texas sun. Alliance Storage, at 18104 Sylvester Ford Rd in Lago Vista, offers open and covered boat and RV storage a short drive from the water. This guide covers what each option is, what it costs, and which one fits.

Boat and RV storage options at Alliance Storage

There are three kinds of spaces, all inside the same gated, fenced, and lit property.

  • Open RV and boat storage, 12x30, gravel surface: $75 per month. A level gravel pad for a boat on a trailer, a travel trailer, or a mid-size RV.
  • Open RV, boat, and trailer storage, 12x40, mulch or grass surface: $65 per month. The longest open space, good for a bigger trailer or a boat and tow setup that needs room.
  • Covered RV and boat storage, 12x31, 12 feet high, semi-enclosed, some spaces with electric: $175 per month. A roof and side cover over the space, which keeps direct sun and hail off the boat or rig.
  • Covered RV parking, 15x51, 15 feet high, semi-enclosed, some spaces with 110V power: $205 per month. The tallest and longest space, sized for Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels.

Prices above are standard monthly rates. Current availability and any running promotions are on the rent storage page.

Open or covered: which one makes sense near Lake Travis?

Open storage is the lower-cost option and works well for a boat that gets used most weekends and is already under a cover, or for a trailer that does not mind weather. It is also the right call for a short season or a tight budget.

Covered storage earns its price in Central Texas. Summer sun here routinely pushes past 100°F, and UV is what fades gelcoat, cracks vinyl upholstery, dries out dash plastics, and chalks RV roofs. A covered space keeps the boat or RV out of direct sun and off the receiving end of hail. For a pontoon, a ski boat, or a motorhome that someone plans to keep for years, covered storage is the difference between a rig that looks new and one that looks tired.

The electric and 110V hookups on select covered spaces matter for RV owners. A trickle charger on the house batteries, or a small dehumidifier running inside the coach, keeps the rig ready to roll instead of needing a weekend of prep before the trip.

What fits where

  • Bass boats, ski boats, and fishing rigs on trailers: any open space, or the 12x31 covered space for sun protection.
  • Pontoons: the 12x40 open space for length, or the 12x31 covered space if the overall trailer length is under 31 feet.
  • Travel trailers and small Class C motorhomes: 12x30 or 12x40 open, or 12x31 covered.
  • Fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes: the 15x51 covered space, with its 15-foot clearance and 110V power on select spots.

Spaces are back-in. Measure the overall length including the trailer tongue and the height including any roof-mounted gear before choosing a space.

Access, security, and location

Gate access is 24/7, every day, through a keypad gate, so a 6 AM launch on Lake Travis does not depend on office hours. The office is open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, Saturday by appointment, and closed Sunday. The property has perimeter fencing, full-site lighting, digital video surveillance, and onsite personnel during office hours.

Alliance Storage is on Sylvester Ford Rd in Lago Vista, next to Jonestown and minutes from the Lake Travis boat ramps on the north shore. Renters from Point Venture, Jonestown, and the Leander side of the lake use it as the closest storage to the water on this side of the Hill Country.

How to reserve a boat or RV space

Spaces can be reserved online at any time on the rent storage page. A reservation holds the space, and payments and account access are online 24/7 after move-in. If a space type is full, the waiting list on the same page sends a notice as soon as one opens. Questions about which space fits a specific boat or RV go to (512) 267-1616 or the contact page.

Frequently asked questions

How much is boat storage near Lake Travis at Alliance Storage?
Open boat storage is $65 to $75 per month depending on the space. Covered semi-enclosed storage is $175 per month, and the 15-foot-high covered spaces are $205 per month.

Is covered RV storage worth it in Texas?
For an RV or boat kept more than a season, yes. Sun and hail do most of the long-term damage to roofs, gelcoat, and upholstery, and a covered space keeps both off.

Can I get to my boat early in the morning or late at night?
Yes. Gate access is 24/7 with a personal gate code.
